In a significant move to revamp its cricketing infrastructure, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed former Test fast bowler Aqib Javed as the new Director of High Performance.
Aqib, who represented Pakistan in 22 Test matches and 163 One-Day Internationals between 1988 and 1998, brings a wealth of experience to the role. A veteran of Pakistan’s golden era in the 1990s, he was part of the squad that lifted the 1992 ICC Cricket World Cup. Following his retirement, Aqib transitioned into coaching and high-performance roles, and has previously served as the interim head coach of the Pakistan men’s national team. He has also played a major role in grooming emerging talent as head coach of Lahore Qalandars in the HBL Pakistan Super League.
