Be Alert. Qatar Visa Center Warns Against Fraud Protect yourself from scams during the Qatar Work Visa process

Every year, thousands of overseas job seekers fall prey to fake agents and fraudsters posing as official representatives of the Qatar Visa Center (QVC). In response to increasing reports of fraud, the Qatar Visa Center has issued a strong public advisory urging applicants to remain cautious and rely only on official channels.

The advisory stresses that QVC operates strictly under the mandate of the Ministry of Interior, State of Qatar, and manages only the administrative and non-judgmental parts of the work visa process.

Official Process at QVC
Applicants visiting the Qatar Visa Center must undergo the following biometric and medical procedures, all in line with Qatar Authorities’ official requirements:

  • Facial image capture

  • Iris and fingerprint scan (thumb and palm print)

  • Medical check-ups, including X-rays, blood tests, eye tests, vaccinations, and doctor consultations

“All services are standardized, transparent, and carried out under Qatar’s official protocols. Applicants should not trust anyone claiming otherwise,” a QVC spokesperson said.

Common Scams & Truths

QVC has highlighted the most common fraudulent practices and clarified the facts:

  • Appointments: Appointments are free and can only be booked online at www.qatarvisacenter.com using the Visa Reference Number (VRN). Employers pay visa costs, not applicants. Fraudsters demanding money for appointments should be reported immediately.

  • VIP/Lounge Service: An optional paid service is available to speed up the process during the first visit. However, it does not guarantee visa approval. Always request an official receipt.

  • Medical Results and Visa Decisions: QVC staff cannot influence visa outcomes or medical fitness results. These are determined solely by the Ministry of Health (MoH), Qatar.

  • Job Offers: QVC is not a recruitment agency and plays no role in job placements. Applicants are warned never to pay anyone claiming to secure employment through QVC.

  • Personal Information: Visa applicants must never share their VRN, passport details, or personal information over WhatsApp, phone calls, SMS, or social media. QVC only communicates through official channels.

“Just like you wouldn’t share your bank PIN or OTP with strangers, you must never share visa-related details with unauthorized individuals,” the advisory notes.

How to Handle Scam Calls or Messages

Medical Referrals
QVC has clarified that some applicants, including those who opt for Lounge/VIP services, may be referred for further medical investigations based on MoH guidelines. These may include:

  • Free repeat X-rays

  • Paid or unpaid tests at approved external labs or hospitals

Importantly, external labs cannot prescribe additional tests beyond the official referral letter. Unauthorized requests should be reported immediately. Final fitness decisions are made only by Qatar’s Ministry of Health.
