David Wiese to Miss PSL 11 as Lahore Qalandars Confirm Absence Due to Family Commitments

Lahore Qalandars have confirmed that their long-serving all-rounder David Wiese will not be part of the franchise for the 11th season of the Pakistan Super League owing to unforeseen circumstances and important family commitments.

Wiese has been a central figure in the Lahore Qalandars setup over the past seven seasons, forging a deep association with the franchise both as a player and a senior member of the leadership group. While confirming his unavailability for PSL 11, the franchise noted that Wiese has expressed his intention to return in future editions of the league.

During his tenure with the Qalandars, Wiese made consistent contributions with both bat and ball and was widely regarded for his composure in high-pressure situations. Beyond his on-field performances, his experience and mentorship played a significant role in shaping younger players and strengthening the team culture that underpinned Lahore Qalandars’ recent successes.

The franchise reiterated its full support for Wiese’s decision, emphasising its respect for his choice to prioritise family at this stage. Lahore Qalandars stated that his presence over the years has been deeply valued and that the team looks forward to welcoming him back in green in the coming seasons.

Lahore Qalandars owner Sameen Rana acknowledged Wiese’s impact, describing him as an integral part of the Qalandars family and leadership group. He said that Wiese’s contributions extended far beyond match performances and affirmed the franchise’s respect for his decision, while expressing hope for his return in future PSL editions.

Reflecting on his time with the franchise, David Wiese described Lahore Qalandars as more than just a cricket team, calling it a family built on brotherhood, support and shared passion. He said the love and respect he received from teammates, management and fans—particularly being affectionately referred to as “Murshad”—would always remain special to him. Wiese added that he was proud to have contributed to a culture that values teamwork, growth and the spirit of the game, and expressed his desire to return and continue contributing to the Qalandars’ journey in the seasons ahead.
