Islamabad seal first Quaid-e-Azam Trophy win with 10-wicket triumph over Multan

Islamabad registered their first win of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025-26 season with a comprehensive 10-wicket victory over Multan on the third day of the sixth-round fixture at the Imran Khan Cricket Stadium, Peshawar, on Friday.

After taking a commanding 163-run first-innings lead, Islamabad’s bowlers — led by Shayan Sheikh (4-56) and Hunain Shah (3-25) — dismissed Multan for 172 in their second innings after enforcing the follow-on. The target of 10 was chased down in just the first over.

Right-arm pacer Hunain Shah, who produced an all-round performance with match figures of six for 81 and a first-innings 51, was named Player of the Match.

At the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi, FATA tightened their grip over Abbottabad after amassing 687 for seven declared on day two. On day three, left-arm spinner Asif Afridi starred with seven for 127, but Abbottabad resisted strongly through Shahzaib Khan’s superb 167 off 350 balls (20 fours, 2 sixes) and Khalid Usman’s unbeaten 50 as they reached 424 for eight at stumps.

At the Abbottabad Cricket Stadium, Sialkot’s opening pair dominated Bahawalpur’s bowling attack after the latter’s declaration at 511 for nine. Mohammad Huraira (178 off 216 balls, 24 fours, 3 sixes) and Azan Awais (156 not out off 241 balls, 18 fours, 1 six) added 326 runs for the first wicket to guide Sialkot to 375 for one at the close.

At Marghzar Cricket Ground in Islamabad, Karachi Blues continued their strong position against Peshawar. After Muhammad Umar’s six-for (6-30) helped bowl out Peshawar for 165, Karachi built a massive lead, with young wicketkeeper-batter Saad Baig scoring his second century of the match — 116 off 153 balls — and captain Shan Masood unbeaten on 101. Karachi declared on 283 for three, setting Peshawar a 510-run target. Peshawar, in reply, were 92 for four at stumps with Mohammad Hamza claiming four for 40.
