Minahil Khursheed Speaks Out on Harassment Experience at 92 News

Pakistani news anchor and television presenter Minahil Khursheed has publicly spoken about her alleged experience of harassment and mental distress during her time at 92 News, a channel she joined earlier this year. In a strongly worded note shared on social media, Minahil announced her decision to quit the organization, citing an unbearable and toxic work environment.

While formally announcing her departure, Minahil alleged that she was subjected to sustained mental pressure, professional intimidation, and unethical demands. Without naming individuals directly, she described a pattern of behavior in which female anchors were allegedly pressured under the pretext of meetings, faced salary cuts, abrupt shift changes, and were ultimately dismissed when they refused to comply.

In her note, Minahil wrote that she endured these conditions for nearly one and a half to two months, during which her work environment was deliberately made hostile. She claimed that her salary was reduced, she was repeatedly assigned exhausting night and morning shifts within the same week, and frequent meetings were scheduled without clear agendas. According to her statement, when she declined to attend such meetings, she was terminated without prior notice.

Minahil emphasized her faith and resilience while addressing the ordeal, stating in Urdu:

“اللہ کا کروڑوں اربوں مرتبہ شکر ہے کہ اس نے رزق اپنے اختیار میں رکھا ہے…
یہ بھولے بیٹھے ہیں کہ اللہ کی پکڑ بہت سخت ہیں”

She further alleged that when she attempted to raise her concerns through official channels, the situation worsened, leading to increased pressure and scrutiny of her work.

The anchor’s decision to speak out has sparked widespread discussion within media circles and on social platforms, with journalists and industry peers calling attention to the urgent need for safer, more transparent, and respectful workplaces in Pakistan’s media industry.

As of now, 92 News has not issued an official response to the allegations.

Minahil Khursheed’s statement adds to a growing number of voices highlighting workplace harassment in media organizations, reinforcing calls for accountability, internal oversight, and stronger protections for women working in the industry.
