Pakistani Marathon Runner Faisal Shafi to Run Chicago Marathon for Flood Relief

Faisal Shafi, Pakistan’s leading marathon runner, is gearing up to participate in the upcoming Chicago Marathon, one of the prestigious World Marathon Majors. However, this time, Shafi’s participation comes with a noble cause – to raise funds for the people affected by the devastating floods in Pakistan.

Shafi has set a target of raising PKR 5 million through donors and private contributions. The collected funds will be distributed among flood-affected families in Pakistan through the United Nations relief program. “This year in Chicago, I will be running for a cause,” Shafi said in a statement. “Marathons are not just about personal glory – they can also serve as powerful platforms to raise awareness and help people in need.”

Shafi’s determination to help those in need is matched by his impressive athletic achievements. Recently, he completed the Sydney Marathon, becoming the only Pakistan-based runner to achieve the ‘Seven Star’ milestone. During that race, he set the Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon run in a combat uniform, wearing a light military-inspired outfit.

Shafi emphasized that all funds will be managed and transferred through a transparent process to ensure accountability. This initiative showcases Shafi’s commitment to giving back to the community and promoting the spirit of marathon running in Pakistan.

Shafi’s achievements have also contributed to the growing popularity of marathon running in Pakistan. With more and more Pakistanis participating in marathons, Shafi’s efforts are expected to inspire a new generation of runners in the country.
