Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has announced the construction of two state-of-the-art cricket stadiums in Islamabad and Muzaffarabad, marking one of the most ambitious infrastructure expansions in Pakistan cricket’s recent history.
Speaking at the PSL London Roadshow at Lord’s, Naqvi said the PCB is committed to elevating cricket facilities across the country in line with international standards and strengthening Pakistan’s position as a premier global cricket destination.
According to the PCB chief, the stadium planned for Islamabad will be a “modern, fully equipped, international-standard venue,” designed to host major global tournaments. Another world-class stadium will be built in Muzaffarabad, with both projects aimed at expanding the national cricket footprint and fostering regional talent.
Naqvi emphasised that world-class infrastructure is central to the PCB’s mission of transforming the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) into the leading T20 franchise competition in the world.
The chairman also highlighted that PSL has been approved to transition into a limited company, with plans underway to launch its Initial Public Offering (IPO) in the market — a first in the league’s history. This shift, he said, will attract further domestic and international investment into Pakistan cricket, including into new stadium ventures.
Naqvi added that, beginning this December and continuing until the start of PSL 11, concerts and fan-centric entertainment activities will be held at venues across the country as part of a broader effort to modernise the cricket experience.
The PCB is expected to announce timelines and architectural details for the Islamabad and Muzaffarabad stadium projects in the coming months.
