PCB Unveils Pakistan’s T20 World Cup 2026 Kit Following Government Clearance

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Sunday unveiled the official kit of the national men’s cricket team for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, shortly after the federal government granted conditional approval for the team’s participation in the tournament.

The World Cup will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with all of Pakistan’s matches scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka.

The PCB revealed the new jersey through a post on social media platform X, featuring national team players wearing the kit titled the “Vanguard Markhor Edition.” The design carries a light green base with darker green layered patterns forming the image of the Markhor, Pakistan’s national animal, symbolising resilience and strength.

The kit announcement came amid political and administrative developments surrounding Pakistan’s participation in the event. In a statement posted on X, the government confirmed it had allowed the national team to take part in the tournament, while also reiterating that Pakistan would not play the group-stage match against India scheduled for 15 February 2026.

“The government of Pakistan grants approval to the Pakistan cricket team to participate in the ICC World Cup T20 2026. The Pakistan cricket team shall not take the field in the match scheduled on 15th February 2026 against India,” the statement said.

The decision followed the International Cricket Council’s removal of Bangladesh from the tournament, after Dhaka raised security concerns over playing matches in India, prompting adjustments to the tournament structure.

Reacting to the development after Pakistan’s victory over Australia in the third T20I at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, the Pakistan T20I captain said the team would comply fully with the PCB’s directives.

“We will do whatever our cricket board instructs us to do,” he said during the post-match press conference, adding that the decision regarding the India match was taken at the government level.

With preparations underway and the official kit now unveiled, Pakistan’s focus shifts towards finalising plans for the global event as they build momentum ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026.
