The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has intervened to remove a promotional teaser for a Ramzan special drama serial on Green TV, citing widespread public concern over its content.
The teaser, uploaded on the official YouTube channel of Green TV for the drama serial “Fasana Mart Ka,” was observed to contain scenes the regulator deemed vulgar. In an official statement released on March 7, 2026, PEMRA stated that the promo featured “music intermingling and dancing,” which it said hurt the religious sentiments of the public at large.
The authority praised the vigilance of citizens who reported the matter, emphasizing that public engagement is crucial in helping regulatory bodies uphold broadcasting standards.
“The Authority would like to inform the public that the matter was taken up immediately,” the press release stated. Following a formal review, PEMRA initiated appropriate regulatory action against the broadcaster.
The action led to the removal of the contentious promo. According to PEMRA, Green TV has confirmed that the “objectionable content has been removed from all relevant digital and social media platforms.”
PEMRA reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing laws and regulations to ensure that broadcast and digital media content aligns with the country’s cultural and religious values, particularly during religious occasions like Ramadan.
