Pakistan sealed the three-match T20I series in dominant fashion, outclassing Bangladesh by 57 runs in the second encounter under the lights at the Gaddafi Stadium. The hosts now lead the series 2-0 with one game to spare.
The night belonged to Sahibzada Farhan, who lit up the Lahore skyline with a scintillating 74 off 41 balls, while Pakistan’s spin quartet spun a web around Bangladesh’s batting to complete a commanding victory
Opting to bat first, Pakistan posted a formidable 201-6, marking their second consecutive 200+ total and fourth in their last eight T20Is—underscoring a team in red-hot batting form.
Sahibzada, who notched up his maiden T20I half-century off just 29 balls, was the mainstay of Pakistan’s innings. He teamed up with Mohammad Haris (41 off 25) to forge a 103-run stand for the second wicket, which set the tone for the innings. The duo punished the visitors with a flurry of boundaries and sixes, taking Pakistan to 107 at the halfway mark.
After Haris fell in the 11th over, Sahibzada continued to attack before perishing in the 13th. Captain Salman Ali Agha (19 off 12) and emerging talent Hasan Nawaz then kept the momentum alive. Hasan registered his maiden T20I half-century, remaining unbeaten on 51 off 26, and played a mature finishing role with three sixes and two boundaries.
For Bangladesh, Tanzim Hasan Sakib (2-36) and Hasan Mahmud (2-47) were the pick of the bowlers, but the rest of the attack struggled to contain Pakistan’s aggression.
Chasing 202, Bangladesh showed early promise as Tanzid Hasan blazed 33 off 19 balls, featuring five fours and a six. He shared a 44-run opening stand with Anamul Haque before the innings unraveled quickly.
Haris Rauf struck in the fourth over, and the real damage followed in the seventh when Abrar Ahmed snatched two wickets in two balls. Bangladesh slumped to 65-5, with Pakistan’s spinners slicing through the middle order.
The spin quartet of Abrar (3-19), Shadab Khan (1-13), Saim Ayub (1-14) and Khushdil Shah (1-25) collectively returned excellent figures of 6-71 in 11 overs, applying relentless pressure. Faheem Ashraf, Haris Rauf, and Hasan Ali chipped in with a wicket apiece.
Despite a valiant rear-guard effort from Tanzim Hasan Sakib, who hammered an impressive 50 off 31 balls with five sixes, Bangladesh folded for 144 in 19 overs. The visitors were effectively a batter short with Shoriful Islam unable to bat due to injury.
