There is something compelling about a television journalist’s journey when it is built one newsroom at a time. For Sidra Afzal, that journey began in November 2022 and has since taken her from GNN to Neo News and, most recently, to Dunya News.
Hailing from Fort Abbas, Sidra entered the world of broadcast journalism with her first professional opportunity at GNN. It marked the start of a career that introduced her to the pace, discipline, and demands of television news while giving her the experience needed to develop her presence as a news anchor.
Alongside her professional journey, Sidra also brings an academic background from the University of the Punjab, where she completed her MSc in mass communication.
Her next career move came on May 5, 2025, when she joined Neo News. The transition marked another step forward as she continued to gain newsroom experience and strengthen her identity in an increasingly competitive broadcast media landscape.
A year later, on May 5, 2026, Sidra joined Dunya News, beginning a new chapter with one of Pakistan’s established television news networks.
At Dunya News, Sidra is also expanding her role beyond traditional television broadcasting. She is part of the network’s digital platforms through Dunya News Explainer, where she presents content designed to break down and explain news and current affairs for digital audiences. The role gives her an opportunity to engage with a new generation of news consumers while adding a digital dimension to her growing experience as a journalist and presenter.
For Sidra, the journey has been about progression rather than overnight success. Each newsroom has added another layer to her experience, allowing her to learn, adapt and grow as a television professional.
