Karachi Women Secure Final Berth in National Women’s One-Day Tournament, Set to Clash with Lahore

In the tenth round of the National Women’s One-Day Tournament, Karachi Women emerged victorious over Rawalpindi Women by 22 runs in a gripping encounter held at Bohranwali Ground, Faisalabad on Wednesday.

Karachi’s innings was anchored by Omaima Sohail’s resilient half-century, as she battled her way to 67 runs off 86 deliveries, comprising seven boundaries. Despite contributions from other batters, Karachi was eventually bowled out for 167 in 41 overs, with Rida Aslam being the standout bowler for Rawalpindi, claiming three wickets.

In response, Rawalpindi’s chase faltered against Karachi’s spin attack led by Omaima Sohail herself, who showcased her all-round prowess by picking up four crucial wickets for 34 runs. Rawalpindi fell short of the target, being bundled out for 145 in 49.4 overs. Aima Saleem top-scored with 32 runs, but it wasn’t enough to steer Rawalpindi to victory. Maham Manzoor and Syeda Aroob Shah also made significant contributions with the ball, sharing five wickets between them.

Meanwhile, at the Iqbal Stadium Peshawar, Peshawar Women defended a modest total of 110 runs against Multan Women, clinching a thrilling four-run victory. Aleena Shah’s gritty 40 helped Peshawar reach the target, while Noor-ul-Iman’s five-wicket haul kept Multan in the hunt. However, Multan’s chase stumbled, losing wickets in quick succession and falling agonizingly short by just four runs.

At Jawad Sports Complex Ground, Lahore Women dominated Quetta Women, securing a comprehensive nine-wicket victory. Lahore’s bowlers restricted Quetta to a meager total of 105 runs, with Ayesha Bilal and Noreen Yaqoob wreaking havoc, each claiming three wickets. In response, Lahore chased down the target comfortably in just 24 overs, with Dua Majid leading the charge with an unbeaten half-century.

With Lahore and Karachi finishing as the top two sides in the double round-robin stage, they are set to clash in the final of the tournament at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad on 11 May, promising an exciting showdown to determine the ultimate champion.
